Our Childcare Classroom is Green

As a childcare owner, the health and safety of our clients’ children are our top priorities. We do our best by keeping our facility free of toxins and other hazards without impacting the quality of childcare services we provide. We are creating a more eco-friendly environment by doing the following:

1. We choose lead-free and PVC-free toys:
We do check the ingredients in our toys? Parents are increasingly aware of the dangers posed by toxic toy ingredients. PVC plastics and lead coatings have been found in everything from bibs and bottles, to stuffed animals and action figures, and even major name-brand toymakers have been found to have these materials on some of their products.

2. We purchase non-toxic art supplies:
The materials for arts and crafts tables can also create a health risk for children. Therefore we purchase a non-toxic art supplies.

3. We choose hard, non-PVC plastics playground.

4. We recycle toxic materials in an area away from the classroom:

Batteries and fluorescent lighting are just two examples of products containing toxic chemicals that we may not be able to operate without. Batteries and fluorescent lighting are recycled away from the classroom.

5. We educate on environmentalism:
While preventing access to hazardous material, recycling should be available and visible to our children as an educational tool. Safe, kid-friendly recycling bins for paper and plastic bundled with garbage receptacles in classroom, giving students the opportunity to learn eco-friendly waste disposal habits. Opportunities for environmental education are limitless, from creating a classroom composting bin, to providing educational games with an environmental focus.

6. Sanitize safely while still meeting licensing requirements:
We do regular sanitizing for our toys, cots, chairs, tables & toilets.
